OVER THE LAST 18 YEARS, PMCC has assisted a variety of companies involved in the utility and transmission industries. PMCC has won several company, industry and professional nominations and awards for projects including the Entergy Nine Mile Five project in 1994 and the Entergy Transmission "Big Muddy" project in 2004. Through corporate wide training, we have enabled project team members to more competently use project management best practices. Additionally, we have assisted corporations with increasing their overall project management maturity.
Promoting the usage of project management best practices to power and utility related industries and the introduction of common project management practices across the company, PMCC can facilitate the generation of project processes and procedures that support the organization. From the initial effort to determine the process workflow (or change it), through the implementation of the procedures and the training of the project and management staff, PMCC will guide, mentor, and facilitate the cultural change that often accompanies the introduction of new processes and procedures. Likewise, PMCC can train, assess, audit and mentor your staff to improve project performance.
A sampling of notable Power/Utility industry achievements include:
Mississippi River Crossing Project
- Entergy Transmission
PMCC played an integral part in the Entergy Transmission award-winning "Mississippi River Crossing Project" nicknamed "High Tech Under the Big Muddy" with PMCC’s Milt Jones, PMP, acting as the Project's Construction Manager. The Project was awarded the prestigious 2004 "Project of the Year" award at the PMI Chapter level and garnered another "Project of the Year" award from the New Orleans Business Roundtable. The project was also submitted by the local Chapter as a contestant in the international PMI "Project of the Year" competition where it advanced to the "finalist" ranks.
Power Industry - Consulting Services
Developed project execution work processes and execution plans to implement in the Pipeline Service division of Reliant Energy. Consultants developed procedures required to execute projects using the work process as a disciplined guideline for all projects.
Power Industry - General Contractor
South Louisiana Co-Generation Project
Provided a scheduler to further develop and maintain a Primavera P3 schedule for a general contractor in two phases. Phase I was for a new switchyard addition in a major chemical plant to tie in three new gas turbine generators and the existing plant switchyard with the existing power company lines coming into the plant. Phase II was to expand and maintain the Contractors Project Schedule for the installation of the three gas turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators, and other related equipment with the final result of providing the chemical plant electric power, process steam and a means of using the excess hydrogen they produced at their plant as a fuel supplement. Power Industry - Plant Outage
Largest Fossil Plant Outage Ever Done in South Louisiana
Provided a senior scheduler for a year and a half to help plan, schedule, monitor, and analyze progress on a 14- week outage at a large fossil fuels plant in the New Orleans area. The outage won the company's highest award for the year 1994. Used Finest Hour and P3 for Windows. Our success has led to numerous other outage-related projects. Back to Top>
Power Industry - Refueling Outage
- Mississippi Nuclear Outage
